pRoshi Meditation: “Awareness exists, Time does not” Yoga for the Mind

Imagine being aware of all the movement and voices of those around you then in a matter of seconds imagine attaining a state of mind so profound that you no longer hear external stimulation. Imagine being in the moment, taking no action and thinking no thoughts as nothing escapes your attention because your attention is focused on nothing. Welcome to the pROSHI meditative experience.

The pROSHI can give you the experience of deep clear-minded meditation. It is the simplest and most powerful mind machine for this specific purpose available anywhere. There are no complicated controls, just an on/off switch and a knob to control the brightness of the light frames. The pROSHI, or personal ROSHI, has been designed for one specific purpose only –  to get the user into a “no-time”, clear minded meditation state very quickly and to keep the user in that state for the duration of the session.

With the pROSHI you simply don the glasses, close your eyes and switch it on. In a few minutes you will experience the same state of mind that others may take a lifetime to learn through traditional meditation.

pROSHI

By sending specially calibrated flickering light through the eyes and into the brain, pROSHI helps to “DisEntrain” the mind, freeing it from its unhealthy cyclical patterns. The brain attains a meditative “normalized” state in which it becomes totally at rest ?yet attentive at the same time?similar to the brain of a Zen Master. This helps put you “In the Zone”?whether you are an athlete, businessperson, doctor, bricklayer or simply a human being trying to cope with the pains and stresses of life. As one yoga enthusiast and pROSHI owner says, “Prior to my yoga sessions I spend 20 minutes on my pROSHI. I do set a timer so that I know when the 20 minutes have passed. I have found this to be incredibly rewarding because it enhances my daily, hour long yoga session. I am so in the zone with my yoga after using it”.

STOP TIME – CREATE ENERGY – PERFORM AT YOUR BEST – EXPERIENCE THE pROSHI

The pROSHI is the simplest mind machine ever created and the most effective at eliciting the “no time” state in the mind of the user.

The pROSHI Neurodynamic Activator is a Complex NeuroStimulation System which doesn’t use EEG for its pickup as does other generations of ROSHI. Its complex flicker is programmed to provide the brain with a brain wave pattern totally at rest and attentive, inducing the brain toward its “listening”, not talking, state. The pROSHI system comes complete with: the pROSHI unit, 3 pairs of LED glasses and one Electromagnetic glasses, a bag and a charger.

DisEntrainment through Photostimulation.
The longer technical term for the above process is Vector Equilibrium Error DisEntrainment Photostimulation (VEEDP). Heres how it works: The lights in ROSHI In-Sight glasses create an LED and MagStim flicker, driven by a Dynamic Vector Equilibruim algorithm, contained within the NeuroDynamic Activator®. This presents the brain with a complex set of phase instructions that it must accurately follow in order to correct its own internal phase vector errors true linear to non-linear transformation, in real-time. It is with this unique method that the brain performs its own neurofeedback duties, without any outside human intervention.

A decrease in dynamic phase error is the result. And that is exactly the outcome we seek. It is in these “quieter” EEG moments that the brain “corrects” itself. This Dynamic Self Organization (DSO) is the hallmark of NeuroFeedback systems, and will be at the vanguard of self-healing in the future.

ROSHI Products have been proved to be the most powerful tools in Neuro/Bio Feedback practice in the United States and all over the world.

For several years pROSHI has been available only though medical professionals. MindMachines.com is proud to be the first and only distributor to offer pROSHI Neurodynamic Activator  directly to the public.

Microbeatmini audiostrobeThe Audiostrobe MicroBeatMini (mBm) light and sound mind machine is an AudioStrobe compatible system that plays music and visually translates the corresponding optical signals. These signals are transferred to the LED light frames via the AudioStrobe decoder circuitry, which receives the specially encoded content from sound sources such as iphones, CD and MP3 players. The light signals can be modulated very subtly, reacting to the finest of nuances; creating an artistic, three-dimensional blend of audio-visual stimulation.

There are ten separate modes for choosing color (red, green, white) and how it is delivered (alternating or synched). Utilize modes with green or white, or a combination of green and red, for meditation, creative thought, behavioral modification and relaxed learning. When you are seeking mental clarity, perhaps in need of some motivation or energy, utilize modes providing red, white or a combination of both red and white color stimulation.

Introducing the pROSHI

This is the first article in our series about the pROSHI Neurodynamic Activator

We are excited at MindMachines.com to be offering the pROSHI (personal ROSHI) photostimulation disentrainment device. The pROSHI is unique in the world of mind machines and is nothing like a typical light and sound machine. In fact, it is NOT a light and sound machine at all. The pROSHI is a Neurodynamic Activator™ and is in a class all its own. Standard light and sound machines run preprogrammed patterns of sound and light at specifc frequencies or frequency ranges to elicit the Frequency Following Response (FFR) in order to achieve a desired brainwave state. The pROSHI approach is radically different…

pROSHI Glasses

I would describe the pROSHI as a visual “digital mantra” generator. A mantra is a phrase that is repeated by the meditator during meditation. It is not a recorded phrase played over and over, but rather repeated by the user over and over which means there are slight variations upon each utterance of the mantra. Unlike any other electronic device the pROSHI successfully emulates this tact. The pROSHI does not simply playback a specific session, rather it runs a program that creates a digital artificial visual mantra that contains organic variations. It is a “one-trick-pony” for sure, but it is one heck of a trick! That is the biggest strength of the pROSHI. It does one thing and does it very well. Rather than focusing on many mind states like a light and sound machine does, the pROSHI creates a deep meditative state ONLY and it does it quickly and easily. The second strength of the pROSHI is the SIMPLICITY FACTOR. It is an extremely simple device to use. There are only 3 very easy steps to follow to use it!

1.) Put on the glasses
2.) Turn on the power
3.) Close your eyes and adjust the brightness

pROSHI

Chuck Davis - Inventor of pROSHI

I have to admit upon first inspecting the machine I was skeptical because of the lack of sessions, sound, buttons and display screen. But after only a few minutes of using the device I was very impressed. The pROSHI is the fastest and easiest way to enter the “no time state” I have ever experienced. The “no-time state” is characterized by a lack of awareness of the passing of time. For example, what seemed like only 5 minutes was actually an hour or vice versa. I can tell you that when making note of the time before getting using the pROSHI my guess of how much time has passed when I take it off has always been wrong.

This is a pretty serious accomplishment for a mind machine.

  • If you are interested in experiencing a state of deep meditation – in very short order – then the pROSHI is for you.
  • If you desire to experience timelessness and “the no-time state of mind” – the pROSHI is what you need.
  • If you want the most simple mind machine that there is for achieving a deep meditatative state with no effort – get the pROSHI.
  • If you want one of the most powerful Neurofeedback devices that is used by professional clinicians worldwide – you guessed it, the pROSHI.

In addition to a variety of light glasses the pROSHI also includes a pair of MAGSTIM (electromagnetic stimulation) glasses. Look for a new post at mindmachines.com by me that goes in-depth regarding them in the future.

The pROSH can support either 2 users at once (with independent brightness control for each user) or 1 pair of light glasses + 1 pair of MAGSTIM glasses!

Previously pROSHI has only been available for use and sale from clinicians.  MindMachines.com is proud to offer the pROSHI Neurodynamic activator!

You can order the pROSHI here: pROSHI Neurodynamic Activator

Understanding What Built-in Mindmachine Sessions Are

Selecting a light and sound session is simple. Your mind machine owners manual contains a complete list of all built-in sessions, plus instructions on how to custom design others.

You should first ask yourself which type of session you feel like experiencing. The session list will contain such types as energy, relaxation, creativity, meditation, learning and sleep. Decide which type you feel in the mood for and check which sessions are available within each type.

This list will also tell you what frequencies are targeted and the intended general effect. Since we are all different, that is, no two individuals think exactly alike, the general effect of each session will vary on an individual basis. In general, however, if a session deals with relaxation, all individuals should expect to experience varying degrees of relaxation and calmness. The same idea also pertains to the other types of sessions.

Session titles are usually chosen by the session designer and are based on the programmer’s experience with the session and also the experiences of test subjects. Just keep in mind that since we are all different, we will all be affected differently by each session. Therefore, the best way to determine which sessions work best for you is to experiment with each session title within each session category.

Open your owners manual to the section that lists the sessions. In the first column the sessions are broken down into types, like energize, relaxation, meditation, entertainment, etc.. Then you have the session numbers followed by their length. Next comes the titles of each session, their frequency range, type of tone used and a brief definition of what each session tries for.

Here is the easiest way to figure out which one you want to use. Find the type of session you feel like doing, then go straight to the frequency range. Of course you already know the different brain states and general characteristics of each state. So for example, say you need to relax. You go to the relaxation sessions. How deep do you want to go? The frequency range will tell you how deep the session goes, not the title of the session or the brief definition that follows. Those are informative, but it is easier to just look at what frequencies the session targets.

Two sessions target the same frequency? Check which type of tone is used. Length of session is also important. Decide what length you want. Remember, always listen to the complete session. Do not listen half way through then go out and drive the freeways. That is not conducive to a healthy lifestyle. Besides, most light and sound units give you the opportunity to either lengthen or shorten the time of each session. Also, most allow you to change the type of tone for each session. Over time, you will probably try all of the sessions, you will know the sessions you like the most and you will stop referring to the owners manual when you go to use your system. That’s okay. That says you know what your system has to offer and how you can manipulate the parameters to suit your specific needs.

Many sessions target more than one brainwave category. Say the purpose of doing your session today is for creativity. You are working on a project and you need some fresh ideas, but you are facing a deadline for getting it completed. Do you do a short creativity/theta session for some quick inspiration or a half-hour creativity/energize session to conjure up fresh ideas and simultaneously produce the energy to write it down really fast? Try the short creativity/theta session. Why? Because at sessions end, you will be back at your normal low beta state, feeling relaxed and fresh and hopefully full of new ideas. And your focus will also be enhanced. Being in a relaxed and focused frame of mind should enable you to write what needs writing in a fashion that meets your deadline. Your mind should also possess the clarity to carry you through to project’s end.

On the other hand, how late were you up last night? Do you need the alertness associated with high beta/energize stimulation? Can you spare the extra time doing a longer session and still meet your deadline? Say you need the alertness associated with the energize session but lack the half-hour to do the session. Why not take the best from both sessions? All you have to do is shorten the length of the creativity/energize session. If it is 30 minutes, make it 15 instead. Just make sure at session’s end that you sit down to finish your project and not run out to hit some tennis balls.

That is just an example of how you can adjust the built-in sessions of your instrument to suit your specific needs. When doing a session, see if this statement holds true for you: When experiencing a beta or gamma session, the colors are predominantly black, white and grey with a lot of intricate patterns. When doing alpha, theta and delta sessions, there are more colors, lots of green, blue, red, yellow, etc., and there are more swirls and blends rather than patterns. I am not sure why that is. I do know all those visuals are produced by your mind. And after performing thousands of light and sound sessions on clients, friends and associates, I have found this to be the norm rather than the exception. But as for why that happens, ask your local neurologist. They usually know everything.

Are Light & Sound Mind Machines for Everyone?

You must need to know if light and sound stimulation is safe for you to use.  Generally speaking, the answer is yes, when used properly and with understanding. For example, do not listen to a session half way through then go out and drive a car. Allow the session to end, bringing your awareness back to your normal low beta state, before performing tasks involving heavy machinery. Do not use light and sound without professional medical supervision if you have epilepsy, heart trouble, latent seizure tendencies or are photosensitive. Some sessions promote the emergence of suppressed events and issues. If you have never had therapy or have trouble handling these issues, be very careful in choosing sessions. If you find yourself as an at risk individual, seek advice from your physician before using a pulsed light device.

Remember: everyone is different. No two people think exactly alike. The effects from using light and sound equipment will vary from individual to individual. So play it safe. If you have questions, get the answers before experiencing light and sound sessions.

Light and sound instrumentation is not intended as a treatment for any mental, emotional or physical ailment or condition. Persons with a history of epilepsy, photoepilepsy or any form of brain seizure, whether knowingly or not, should not use a pulsed light device without professional medical supervision. Latent seizure tendencies, brain injuries, toxemia, drug abuse and unspecified other conditions, known or unknown to the user, are conditions which may produce brain seizures.

Are you an individual who would be at risk by using light and sound technology? Less than 2% of the U.S. population are likely to ever experience a photoconvulsive seizure from pulsed light stimulation (Newmark & Penry in Niedermeyer 1982).

A proven method of determining whether or not you are prone to a seizure of this type is to be screened by a qualified technician using  EEG analysis prior to using light and sound equipment. However, many epileptics may not experience any adverse effects from light and sound because they are not photoconvulsive (Stevens in Niedermeyer 1982). Still, it is wise to seek professional medical advice prior to using light and sound equipment if you have a history of epileptic or photoepileptic tendencies. Even though medical professionals can identify most of us who have these tendencies by reviewing our individual family histories, some people slip through the screening process undetected who are actually at risk. Why? Because some may be totally asymptomatic or have forgotten that when they were young (commonly between the ages of six and fifteen) they did have a seizure.

The following list of questions are very important for you to ask yourself prior to using light and sound, but collectively should not be construed as a reliable screening procedure:

      1. Have you ever had periods of blanking-out or have suffered from any form of convulsive seizure?

     2. Have flashing lights ever made you nauseous or uncomfortable?

     3. Has anyone in your family ever been prone to seizures?

     4. Are you an individual in the beginning stages of drug or alcohol withdrawal?

     5. Are you suffering from severe medical disorders?

     6. Do you suffer from any type of mental illness?

     7. Do you have a pacemaker or are you pregnant?

If you answered yes to any of these questions you should consider yourself at risk for possible adverse effects from utilizing pulsed light stimulation.

If you find you are unable to use light and sound because of possible adverse effects, there is an alternative. Sound only. This utilization of audio frequency sessions has proven quite successful in each one of my learning and relaxation programs. The ideal sound-only alternative, which was developed by Christopher Oliver and Michael Landgraf, is the 515 MP3.

Light and sound instruments give you the ability to control your mental states. Because each person has their own psychological makeup, no one can guarantee you will experience positive feelings after every session. Using light and sound is a personal choice, and the better informed you are, the better experience you will have.

Before ending this discussion concerning the possibility of adverse effects, I feel it is important to address one issue that a majority of my clients and associates have, at one time or another, asked about. If you consume alcohol or drugs (legal or otherwise) before experiencing a light and sound session, many researchers contend that you will automatically have a brain seizure. This is not true. Chances are you will, but it is not automatic. After fifteen years of sponsoring light and sound programs, not once has there been an adverse reaction to light and sound from any of the participants in these programs. Many were on prescribed medications, while others were confronting their drug or alcohol dependency. Others combined alcohol with light and sound during social gatherings and I repeat, not once did anyone experience any adverse effects.

Here is one example, in a social setting, where individuals consumed alcohol prior to experiencing light and sound. A few years back, representatives of a major international music company asked for my assistance at a party they were having to publicize a new rock group. It was held at a very respectable nightclub on Santa Monica Boulevard. The news media was well represented at this function.

During the course of the festivities, I performed over seventy light and sound sessions on curious individuals who wanted to experience what light and sound was all about. I can not and will not say drugs of any kind were used by any of the attendees. I can say alcohol was consumed. The majority of those experiencing light and sound sessions did indulge. In a way it was almost comical. I asked each person before setting them up on light and sound if they were under the influence of either alcohol or drugs. Of course they all answered no, even with red eyes and silly grins that told me otherwise. Now if I believed everything that has been written about this combination, I never would have agreed to hook anyone up. But no one suffered any adverse effects unless you term having a great time adverse.

Here is an example where prescribed medications could possibly lead to adverse effects when combined with light and sound, yet none were experienced. A few years back, a client started EEG / neurofeedback training after being diagnosed with Chronic Fatigue Syndrome. Over the course of the previous ten months, she had been prescribed over sixty different medications to combat what at that time was an undiagnosed illness. Yes, you read that correctly. Over sixty. She was gradually weaned from the majority of the medications and began utilizing light and sound to help her cope with daily stressors while she did her neurofeedback training. Although she was still taking some of her prescribed medications while experiencing light and sound, not once did she suffer any adverse effects from the combination.

I am certainly not advocating the use of alcohol or drugs. And I do not advocate their use with light and sound equipment. What I am saying is people have been known to use both simultaneously and not experience any adverse effects. That is a fact.

About Lightframes ( AKA Light Glasses – LED Glasses ) for Your Mind Machine

What looks to be two identical lightframes have different polarities, the lightframe RCA jack is too big for the light port of the mind machine, how come some lightframes connect with RCA jacks and others have mini-USB connectors? Often happens when you use one manufacturers mindmachine with another manufacturers lightframe. Manufacturers design mind machines, light emitting eye frames and various other accessories that fit their vision of what a light and sound machine should look like and it?s built-in software abilities. Get the type(s) of lightframe made for the mind machine you own. Wasn?t always like this, but as the technology advances so does a manufacturers ability to seek perfection. And that?s a good thing, but what?s so important with lightframes? Color and comfort matters.

Back in the 1980?s, when I was first turned on to a light and sound system, the lightframes were red LEDs. To my mind, the red stimulation produced a black background three dimensionally filled with some of the most radically colored patterns and visuals ever created. Yes, the frequency sessions affected my mental, emotional and physical state of being, but my brain was tuned to the visuals and music I had playing. It was great. Better than a brain tune-up.

Today there are so many lightframe variations and so many choices. If this is going to be your first mind machine and you would prefer starting with one type color stimulation, go for the white lightframes. The visuals they produce can get outrageous, having a profoundly positive effect on your state of mind.

Considering neurotechnology affects the mind and most newcomers to light and sound know very little about how exactly, it is best to have information describing the color aspect of light and sound mindmachine stimulation. The more you personally know about this technology, the better the choice you will make when choosing a mind machine that will best meet your own personal needs.

Everybody has a favorite color, like wearing khaki pants or a green shirt, perhaps the walls of your home are Navajo white, maybe even a mixture. Then there is that subconscious element to consider, like if you were in an auto accident and you were driving a blue car. Would blue still be your favorite color or would it conjure up negative feelings stemming from that unfortunate event? Lots of variables enter into deciding what color you would be happiest with.

Red may be a ‘warm’ color, often thought to be more appropriate for beta sessions, but not necessarily. Red LED lightframes, when used with your eyes closed, stimulates the cortex of your brain into generating some of the most delightful shades, blends and swirls of colors possible. Red LED stimulation can help you relax.

Yellow, orange and red are viewed as ?warm? colors and are stimulating (excitatory). These LED color lightframes are often utilized when experiencing sessions containing higher frequencies such as beta. ?Cool? colors like green, blue and violet are calming (inhibitory). These colors are most often used with sessions having lower frequency stimulation, all targeting the deeper brainwave states known as alpha, theta and delta.

Although any color of light would deliver the benefits of a light and sound session, specific colors will help get you there faster, even more deeply. When you are considering the various colors, wondering which color would best apply to your situation and what a particular color is normally associated with, here is a generally accepted generic guide: use blue color stimulation for delta (sleep / clearing); use green for theta (meditation / visualization); for alpha (learning / relaxation) use yellow; and for beta (focus / energy) use orange or red.

Here are three different methods for producing pulsed light stimulation. Most manufacturers use LED bulbs, incandescent bulbs and RGB-based LEDchips. The LED style is better than the incandescent variety. Incandescent bulbs tend to have a bleed-over effect at higher frequencies, they just can?t turn on and off (blink) efficiently at high rates. LED bulbs can. The LED-based chips are even better.

Left and right color independent eye control gives you greater control of the pulsed light stimulation. It allows you to simultaneously activate or relax either your left or right brain hemisphere. With no means of eye control, the pulsed light stimulation being generated affects both hemispheres of the brain equally. For overall calming or energizing, that is fine. But what if you wish to work on your right hemisphere, not your left, and vice versa? That?s when having this control proves advantageous. Simply stated, if you would like to activate the right hemispheric region of your brain, but not the left, select a warm color (yellow, orange or red for instance) for the left eye of the lightframe and for the right, select a cooler color (such as violet, blue or green).

Even though we all think and are affected differently by pulsed light stimulation, certain colors appear to work best, in a generalized kind of way, for helping to enhance certain abilities or to achieve certain sensations and emotions. Based on what I have read, personally experienced and received as feedback from my customers these past twenty-plus years, here are the most common colors for pulsed light and what they are used for:

Red - invigoration, extroversion, strength, activity, vitality, energy, action. Red provides a wide range of colorful visuals for most people.

Orange - subconscious, relationships, interaction, creativity, change, sexual, social. Although soft and subtle, orange can invigorate and energize the light and sound listener. Sometimes referred to as the color Amber, it falls between red and yellow. If you find the color red too intense and green too dim, try this color.

Yellow - concentration, learning, thinking, idealism, memory, sunny, focus. Yellow is highly recommended for soft , yet subtle light and sound experiences. The color yellow is considered to be excellent for use while studying.

White - effective for working with imagery, relaxation and visualization. White generates a richness in colors and sense of dimension that no other pulsed color can imitate. White can attain a brightness intensity similar to red while generating color pulsations that appear to float before your eyes. White light is the most popular color used, offering full spectrum stimulation to ensure that the red, green and blue cones of the retina receive full stimulation similar to the natural light spectrum.

Green - compassion, revitalizing, peaceful, renewal, calming, balance, healing, love. Preferred by those experiencing certain degrees of light sensitivity. The color green is associated with nature and with heightening the emotional qualities of the heart.

Blue - use for communication, contemplation, contentment, meditation, relaxation, sensitivity, creativity and sleep. Blue will generate a profound sense of calmness and a feeling of deep relaxation and is believed to contribute to the creation of ordered thought and harmonious moods.

Biofeedback Training to Improve Health

Biofeedback is a method for treating people to improve their health by using signals from their own bodies. Therapists and psychologists use biofeedback to help tense and anxious clients learn to relax and to help their patients cope with pain.

There is a good chance you have already used a form of biofeedback. For instance, ever gone outside to walk the dog on a cold and blustery day? Your body told you it was cold, prompting you to wear a jacket. How about when you stand on a scale and it shows you gained weight? Time to consider doing a little cutting back. And at sometime in our life we have had our temperature taken, thinking perhaps we are exhibiting signs of illness. If you were running a temperature higher than 98.6, then would be a good time to rest and drink liquids, and of course, contact your physician. Clinician?s machines can find a person’s internal bodily functions with much greater sensitivity and precision than in the past. The results of each biofeedback session are valuable for both the patient and the therapist, as the information can be applied to gauge and direct the next treatment session.

Biofeedback training can be demanding on patients. Patients need to review their daily routine to learn if they are contributing to their own negative feelings. Patients need also personally commit to practicing biofeedback training awareness or relaxation exercises every day. They must change their routine, their day-to-day lifestyle, and accept much of the responsibility for maintaining their own health.

Brainwaves are the electrical wave patterns generated in every person’s brain. These waves vary according to level of consciousness, sub-consciousness and unconsciousness and are characterized by four distinct types of brainwaves. Each of these electrical wave patterns has distinctly different ways of perceiving, processing, learning and knowing information. All of these brain waves are produced at all times. However, a predominance of a specific desired brainwave state can be created at will, which allows a person to potentialize his or her capabilities towards achieving human excellence.

For a better understanding of what brain waves are and how those are utilized in biofeedback sessions, brainwave frequencies are described in terms of hertz (Hz), or cycles per second, which are measured by an electroencephalogram (EEG). The four general categories of brainwave frequencies and their main characteristics are:

Gamma brainwave frequencies are a high frequency pattern beginning at thirty-five hertz. There has been some evidence that gamma frequencies are associated with states of peak performance. Most light and sound instruments have the capability to generate gamma frequencies. While in this brainwave state, sensations are centered on being mentally, emotionally and physically “charged” or extremely energized. These frequencies are the highest known brainwave patterns, but are considered by some researchers to be part of the beta frequency category.

Beta brainwaves are the next highest frequency pattern, ranging from thirteen to thirty-four hertz, and can be separated into three sub-categories. The first is high beta, ranging from nineteen to thirty-four hertz. When high beta is the dominant brainwave state, anxiety and stress are most likely to occur. The second sub-category is mid beta, with frequencies ranging from fifteen to eighteen hertz. Mid beta is characterized by action, with focus on external surroundings. The third is SMR beta (Sensorimotor Rhythm), ranging from thirteen to fifteen hertz. While in this state, focus is also on external surroundings, but the individual is more relaxed than in mid beta. Within SMR is fourteen hertz, which is gaining attention from researchers and clinicians utilizing EEG / neurofeedback instrumentation. The true benefit of creating fourteen hertz in humans has yet to be determined, but a recent study at the University of California at Los Angeles found that felines could produce fourteen hertz at will, while humans cannot.

Generally speaking, beta brainwaves are characterized by logical, analytical and intellectual thinking, verbal communication and awareness of surroundings.

Alpha brainwaves are a frequency pattern ranging from eight to twelve hertz. They most commonly occur when we are calm and relaxed, yet mentally alert. These brainwaves are also present during daydreaming.

Theta brainwaves range from four to seven hertz, characterized by being deeply relaxed and inwardly focused. This brainwave state is also associated with rapid learning and the assimilation of new information with high retention, heightened motivation to activate goals, bursts of creativity, insight and new behavior patterns.

Delta brainwaves range from five-tenths to three hertz and are associated with being extremely relaxed, characterized by sleep.

Researchers have proven that brainwave frequencies determine what brainwave state is being experienced at any given time. By measuring the production of brainwaves through the utilization of EEG (electroencephalogram) equipment, the frequencies that produce these various brain states can be tracked on a computer monitor. As mentioned earlier, these frequencies are generated in every person’s brain, and are the result of outside stimulation that has been passed to the brain via electrical signals from our different senses. Light and sound instruments stimulate the neural activity of our vision and hearing, and can safely guide our minds to produce specific frequencies that are associated with the four general brainwave categories.

There is absolutely nothing wrong about going to see your physician or therapist for alleviating anxieties, modifying behavior and a myriad of other symptoms biofeedback has proven effective in treating. The drawbacks are the time it takes to adequately overcome your unwanted symptoms, the amount of practice necessary to progress, the need for scheduling multiple appointments and the cost of each visit.

Choosing biofeed-in mindmachines that can target the same frequencies as a biofeedback monitor, in far less time thereby speeding the progress of the individual, done personally in the comfort of your home rather that scheduling appointments elsewhere, and the obvious savings on money (you can buy a light and sound biofeed-in mindmachine for less than visiting a biofeedback specialist for several sessions), gives you a beneficial and cost-effective alternative.

Remember: Excelling in biofeedback takes time and is dependent upon the patient to access the desired brainwave frequency at will, with no outside help. Biofeed-in is just the opposite. Biofeed-in gently leads you to the targeted brainwave frequency state, without any conscious effort on your part.

? you do not need to schedule an appointment, pay a therapist, or rush to make your appointment on time. So keep it simple, use a biofeed-in mindmachine, when you desire, and you too will realize the advantage of owning your own mind machine far outweighs the hassles of practicing biofeedback sessions with the accompaniment of a well-paid clinician.
