Mind Machines & Motivation

Motivation is being in the right state of mind and mind machines will get you there. Being a devout procrastinator I have found it difficult to muster up the motivation to do things I really don’t want to do. Seems the hardest part is getting started. Then staying motivated long enough to maybe not finish the project right then, but getting most of it behind me relieves the pressure/anxiety/stubbornness of my not even starting on the task or project in the first place.

Cleaning the house is a great example. It never ends. The only satisfaction is knowing it’ll be another few days before I get to do it all over again. Sure if we’re having a party I have no hesitancies lining up a house cleaner, but here we go again, when the party is over, it’s time to start cleaning all over again.

My job is the same way, there are things I prefer doing and other stuff putting off. Like house work, job work never ends, and it’s my responsibility to do it on time and right. How about visiting your least favorite in-law? They may be family-tight with your spouse, they enjoy seeing one another, but you are in no hurry to go there. How do you find the motivation outside of knowing sacrifice is a part of being in a relationship and going there would make your spouse happy?

I use a mind machine. I use eyes-open style glasses, earbuds, a one hour beta brainwave frequency mind machine program combined with some good old rock music. Vacuuming, dusting, cleaning floors to working at the computer to visiting my spouse’s favorite sister is no longer a problem. My mind machine has helped me get things done, helped me be patient with myself while doing tasks and projects, and has enabled me to become more productive as a result.

I no longer view myself as a devout procrastinator, but a motivated devout procrastinator!
