IBIIDA LAHAA
The Native American Wintu word Ibiida means “I am”, while Lahaa has two
meanings: “into trance” or “to doctor and heal”). This spectacular DVD is an
unforgettable journey into trance with its beautiful high definition time-lapse
photography and electronic score by Craig Padilla, it engages viewers into an
alternative state of being. Working on many levels, IBIIDA LAHAA, helps reduce
stress, increases awareness, focuses intellect, and uses Native American sacred
locations for its imagery healing properties. Bart Hawkins and Craig Padilla
have successfully married vision to sound in a way that may represent the first
of an entirely new genre of ambient art. The visuals consist of Northern
California revealed in splendor, fading smoothly between landscapes and cloud
studies, to micro-scapes of water and fire that delight and suspend. Captivated
by the feeling that one had just spent an hour in a fabulous art museum, each
frame could be an oil painting on its own. This cinematic triumph sets it apart
from previous attempts by filmmakers to tie music to visuals. The cinematography
is amazing on its own, but made more so by the subtle and organic purity of the
score. As with the best of scores, you come away with the feeling that the music
was inherently an integrated part of the experience, inseparable from the whole.
The result is an organic and rich experience emerging into a therapeutic and
captivating visual poetry that invites repeat viewing.
IBIIDA LAHAA is a unique high-def video that is based on an ancient and ongoing
idea that images can alter consciousness and environmentally enhance one's
living space while having a healing effect on the human psyche.
