Michael Hutchison

October 10, 2007 – 1:01 pm
Michael Hutchison first got started in the realm of Mind Technology in the early 1980's after he was hired by the Village Voice in New York City to debunk a new fad that began after the Movie Altered States aired in December of 1980. Michael went to Tranquility Tanks in New York City with his pen and paper, tried out this new fad, and was shocked after leaving the float tank, because not even the hustle and bustle of Manhattan could bother him. His mission to debunk float tanks ended up in with him writing the Book of Floating: Exploring the Private Sea.  Michael became a convert to Mind Technology, then ended up researching what other technologies existed to help one relax, achieve inner peace, and learn about themself. He ended up checking out light and sound technology, vibration, motion, and various different methods ...

FAQ’s & Glossary of Mindmachine Terminology

October 8, 2007 – 1:23 pm
FAQ's & Glossary WHAT IS A MIND MACHINE? Utilizing light and sound pulses at a specified frequency, these machines stimulate the brain wave activity of the user, leading the user's mind from normal waking consciousness to a variety of altered states of consciousness. WHAT ARE THESE STATES AND HOW DO THEY DIFFER FROM NORMAL? The specific frequency ranges and their associated mental states are as follows: BETA 13-30 Hz: Normal waking state; attention directed to surroundings. Includes agitated, restless/"monkey mind" states which are especially amenable to treatment with light and sound stimulation. ALPHA 8-13 Hz: Relaxed, tranquil, daydreaming, "inward awareness" state. THETA 4-8 Hz: Borderline sleep; meditation state with access to the unconscious; creativity, learning, inspiration. DELTA 1-4 Hz: Deep, dreamless sleep; trance state. WHO CAN BENEFIT FROM THIS TECHNOLOGY? Light and sound can enhance the work of physicians, psychologists, therapists, body workers, any harried professional, as well as the individual experimenter who wishes to explore altered states of consciousness, awareness expansion and sensory stimulation.
