HOW MUCH STRESS IS IN YOUR LIFE?
November 12, 2007 – 12:54 pm
Be aware of the symptoms, locate the source, learn to relax.
Identifying the problems:
I. Many problems in business (and personal life) arise from inappropriate
or maladaptive coping with stress.
II. Stress results from the demands of outside pressures and the individual
capability to respond.
III. Stress-related disorders include: headaches, muscular tension, ulcers,
colitis, chronic pain, diarrhea, bruxism, insomnia, asthma and fatigue.
IV. Psychological effects of stress are anxiety, depression, phobia, sexual
dysfunction, restlessness and lifestyle problems such as chain-smoking,
obesity and alcoholism.
V. Behavioral effects include aggression, withdrawal, preoccupation with
self problems, inability to concentrate or focus, memory problems and
inability to effectively work or study.
VI. The effects described above can be translated into concrete problems
arising in the home, workplace or school:
- Accidents
- Low Productivity
- Poor Judgement
- Deteriorating Performance
- Absenteeism
- Inaccurate Reports
- Illness
VII. Millions of dollars are lost annually due to tardiness, absenteeism,
medical expenses, higher insurance premiums and lost productivity.
Since stress occurs while we are in the beta or ‘awake’ state, and a
light and sound instrument can guide us to an alpha or ‘relaxed’
state (without any conscious effort), doesn’t a 12 minute 9 Hertz
session, combined with your favorite music, sound good about now?
